The 2020 Peoria Area Military Retiree Appreciation Day that was scheduled for 2 May 2020 is cancelled.   

This is being done to protect our guests from the effects of the Coronavirus.  In addition, event presenters from the Department of Defense and others are prohibited from travelling for the next 60 days.

PEORIA AREA ​MILITARY RETIREE
APPRECIATION DAY


Retired military members, family members and surviving spouses, representing decades of service are invited to attend the Peoria Area Military Retiree Appreciation Day, May 2, 2020.  It is open to military retirees from all branches of service. They could be medical, reserve, National Guard, or active duty retiree.  Any military retiree is welcome. Bring your retiree ID card.

This information packed event, hosted by the Itoo Society, with the help of several area businesses, brings together key services, support organizations and resources for one day to help retired military members in Central Illinois stay informed and ensure their entitlements and benefits are in order.

This is a Retiree Appreciation Day.  That includes those who retired medically at a young age from recent conflicts all the way up to those who served in World War II.  This is not a veteran appreciation day. It is for retirees. All retirees are veterans, but not all veterans are retirees.

Primarily, we are reaching out to the retirees and providing information of what’s going on in the military and with their benefits and information on the services for them in the area.   We anticipate hearing about pending legislation that might impact the military and benefits going forward.

This is another chance for the community to appreciate members of the military for their service.  The Itoo Society has a long history of recognizing the military and looks forward to continuing efforts for doing so.
